Cosmetic Procedures
People today are asking for their smiles to be more and more attractive. Despite new crowns or veneers, if gum levels are not appropriate, the final esthetic result will not be desirable. For this reason, ADSI offers several minimally invasive procedures to solve these problems. Click the links below to learn more.
Correcting gummy smile
A “gummy” smile causes the teeth to look short and out of proportion with the rest of the face. This condition often results from birth and is easily correctable with a procedure known as crown lengthening. The procedure involves sculpting the gums to give the teeth a more proportional, natural look.

Correcting gum recession
As the gums recede, tooth root becomes exposed. Exposed tooth roots can not only be unsightly but also result in tooth sensitivity and predispose to root cavities. Several options are available to predictably cover exposed roots including a gingival or connective tissue graft.
A gingival graft is performed when only one or two teeth have mild recession. The procedure consists of moving the gum tissue further up (towards the top of the tooth) or moving adjacent tissue over, covering part of the exposed root, and suturing the tissue into place.

A connective tissue graft is required when grafting several adjacent teeth with moderate to severe recession. This procedure requires a donor site in order to adequately cover the exposed root. The roof of the mouth is usually the location of the donor site due to the commonly excessive connective tissue located there. ADSI specializes in a gentle single-incision technique of removing this inner excess tissue without leaving an open wound or heavy bleeding. A mouth piece is made to fit the patient's palate to serve as a band-aid and protect the donor site until completely healed. ADSI also offers a less invasive technique using donor connective tissue from a tissue bank instead of from the roof of the mouth.
